Organic growing to me is doing minimal or no supplementation. Composting is the way to go. It provides all natural amendments to your plant. You are mimicking what occurs in nature. If done correctly it will only require you to water your plant. Your plants will pull the nutrients it needs from the soil, without requiring mixing various components to create a grow formula or a bloom formula.

Judging

Judging at a cannabis competition  is a fantastic experience. We would like to share that experience with as many participants as possible. At the first DC Grower’s Cup we had 23 judges. For the 2nd Annual DC Grower’s Cup we had over 50 judges for the entire competition. In order to ensure that the hard work of each of our entrants is properly examined, we are requiring all judges to pass a certification course. We offer this course in the hopes that it will add consistency and credibility to the judging process. We realize that there will always be subjectivity in judging cannabis products. After all, we like what we like.

There is a non-refundable $75 registration fee for this course. Successful completion by May 15, 20019 will qualify you to judge in this year’s competition. You will judge one or more categories. While we would like to satisfy everyone’s requests to judge the category of preference, we cannot guarantee that will happen. There will be a maximum of 10 judges in each of the 4 flower categories and 10 Concentrate judges. There will be up to 20 Edible judges. Flower judges will receive a one gram sample of each entrant in the category and Concentrate judges will receive 1/2 gram of each entrant. Edible judges will receive one serving of each entrant. We cannot guarantee the total number of entrants in any category. If we don’t qualify enough judges, you may be asked to judge entrants from more than one category. All judges will be invited to a private judges reception where we will provide samples of entrants in all categories for judges to try. Your judges pass will also allow entry to the Awards Ceremony.

The Certification Process for the 5th Annual DC Grower’s Cup is open. You must first pay the $75 fee for the Judges Certification Course. You will receive instructions on how to access the course via email. Certification exam must be completed with a minimum passing score by 12 pm May 25, 2019 to qualify. Applicants failing to qualify will receive a complimentary Judge’s Packet and entry to both events.  All sales final. Register HERE

DC Grower’s Cup is an  annual event to celebrate the legal use and growth of cannabis in the District of Columbia. It is the Original Cannabis Competition in the Nation’s Capital.  This celebration brings together local growers and persons interested in the cultivation of cannabis for personal use to exchange ideas and techniques . The event includes a variety of vendors, subject matter experts and music. There will be free clone/seed distribution with genetics provided by 2 time Grower’s Cup champion JamMaster JP and 2 time champion Samson Paisley of MedMax Seeds and other goodies at the Cup!
The 3rd Annual DC Grower’s Cup will be held May 27, 2017. There will be Judges/Entrants reception on May 26th. Meet the growers, edibles/concentrate makers and sample entries. Tickets available on EventBrite.
